I just replaced my iPhone 3GS Back Housing and Glass Screen, now the display is white. What should I do? I replaced the back housing and front glass with new ones, which worked completely fine.
I then realized that the ear speaker and proximity sensor where not working, and so I tried to reconnect them – which didn’t help at all and they still do not work. Then, when I was putting the glass back on, I must have pressed down the Home Button Prongs, and so I tried to put them up – and one of them snapped off. To try to fix the snapped prong, so that I can use my phone until my home connector replacement comes, I taped a piece of aluminium foil to the part where the old connector was in the hope that it would work, I was completely wrong and after reassembling the phone the screen is white.

Please note, the screen is white after using aluminium foil as a home screen prong.

I have tried turning off the phone and back on again, which I can do because the screen is still touchable and I could just slide the power bar off.

Should I buy a brand new LCD? They are not expensive but still they are worth money, $20 is what I can get one for – but will it even fix it? Some say that the graphics chip may be damaged on the back of the board, but since the display was working fine for quite a while after putting the motherboard back in I’m fairly sure it’s not this.

Another note, to connect the ribbon cable 3, I used a pair of tweezers to grab the wire and get it in – which appears to have made a dent on the back, but no puncture – I’m blaming the none working speaker and sensor on this mistake and have ordered a new cable for $3. I also ordered a home screen button for $3.

Should I take the risk and get the LCD display? Or is the motherboard broken and I have a useless phone.
