It resets any information on the network you’re on – it’s often used to fix network issues. Be warned that you may have to input some data to get online with the phone such as APN’s if you reset! !
A soft, or even a hard, reset does not reset your iPhone 3G to factory settings. That is called restoring your iPhone. A soft reset keeps all of your data on your phone and restarts it, similar to restarting a computer.

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP! iPhone 4 won’t send/receive texts and calls.? Hello,
I really, really need some help. I’ve had my iPhone 4 for about a year now and a few months ago it suddenly wouldn’t let me send texts and make calls. What it does, is it says that it’s sending a text however the send bar only goes to the end and stays there as if it is frozen. I then believe that the text hasn’t sent but in fact it HAS, I just don’t know that. Also, with calls it just goes to the screen and stays frozen, even when I press the ‘end’ button. However, that call has gone through to the other person, I just can’t hear them.
It’s happened again today, and I’ve tried resetting, turning on and off, resetting my network settings, syncing it to my iMac, I just don’t know what to do!! I need my phone for contact reasons and I just really don’t know what to do. I’ve called Apple and they just told me to restart and I’ve done that but no change!!! Please, please help. thank you. xxBy lifesound January 10th, 2013 at 21:26:59
