If the “Power” button on your iPhone isn’t working, the first thing you might want to do is take the phone apart and replace the button. Avoid doing this as taking the phone apart to do anything will invalidate the iPhone warranty. If you d…

iPhone randomly goes to ‘slide to power off screen’ then flashes apple logo? (Sorry for reposting this, I had is posted in another category but I don’t think it belongs there)
I need some help here. I just bought an iPhone 1st Gen (2g) off ebay, got it working and everything, but there is a major problem. The iPhone was not-activated obviously, and I do not have AT&T. I know very little about iPhones, so I needed an unlock/jailbreak. I downloaded this blackra1n application to jailbreak it, and it did (after about 4 attempts) and I realized that it wouldn’t work with iOS 3.1.3. So I downgraded to 3.1.2. The jailbreak then worked, but Cydia was really slow and would freeze. I really, don’t need a jailbreak, just an unlock, and I needed cydia to get the unlock. I then looked around for info, and after about 7 tried re-jailbreaking with blackra1n, I tried this new jailbreak called ‘redsn0w’. At the time, I reupgraded to 3.1.3 from itunes to get the jailbreak working. When I installed this jailbreak there was actually an option for ‘unlock’. I had Cydia and Unlock checked and I proceeded to jailbreak. Everything was actually working for once, After the jailbreak I used the phone and everything appeared to be working. My tmobile SIM was working fine. Then here is where the problem comes in. I will turn the phone on and no matter what, the phone will display the ‘slide to power off’ screen after a few seconds, then the screen will go black, then the phone will turn off after about ~1 minute and will then flash the apple logo that comes up when you boot the phone. It will display the logo, go black for about 4-10 seconds, then display the logo again. This is a major problem as I will not be able to receive incoming calls if I l leave the phone idle for a few seconds. The last thing I tried was going to iOS 3.1.2 and it is still doing it.
TL;DR iPhone turns off and flashes apple logo every few seconds. HELP!
I would really like a simple fix for this.
One thing to note, the lock button on top of the phone is extremely jammed, perhaps being pressed down? It still functions. I wouldn’t think that the lock button being held down for an extended period would turn off the phone and cause this. If I need to take it apart please give me a simple guide on how to do so. I really think that this is a software issue though.
