How do I know if I my iPhone 4 is tethered or untethered

category:

Tethered literally means ‘attached’, and this is exactly what these kinds of jailbreaks are. In definition terms, a tethered jailbreak is one in which a jailbroken device cannot reboot (not from standby, but from complete power off) unless it is..

What is the difference between untethered and tethered jailbreaks

Tethered means that the jailbreak needs to be reapplied every time you power down your iPod touch 3G. If you let the battery run to zero or restart your iPod touch then you will need to reapply the jailbreak by connecting to your computer. !

Is there a tethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1

It’s called Ac1dSn0w and it jailbreaks iOS 5/iOS 5.0.1 tethered on OS X Snow Leopard and Lion. Ac1dSn0w currently supports iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and original iPad on iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 for tethered jailbreak. Once you go through the steps, your device will be jailbroken tethered, just like redsn0w or sn0wbreeze. iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are NOT supported.

How can you tell whether your jailbroken iPhone 4 is tethered or not

A tethered jailbreak will require you to connect the phone to a computer whenever you power up the phone.

Untethered is probably the most wanted, because you can use your device freely. But if your device is tethered, you need to connect your device to a computer in order to boot it. I hope it clarifies!

Should I Jailbreak it again? or directly install the firmware? I’m currently using an iPhone 3g 16 GB, 3.1.3(7E18) with a firmware of 05.12.01
I know its jailbroken but I don’t know if its tethered or untethered. Anyway I just want to put iOS 4.2 with home screen wallpaper and MMS support. And I also don’t want my phone to hang or something! I also don’t wanna take any risk of busting the system up. Is there a way I can do that? cause I’m seriously sick of using iOS 3.1.3 :/
And BTW my phone is already Jailbroken and has CYDIA installed innit … !!!
And please give me the steps of how to do it?
Thank you
and provide the link please :D
